Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia Limited has an elected Board of up to 7 Directors registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Comission (ASIC). The Board is responsible for overseeing the operations, legal, strategic, governance and financial matters of SICA.
The Board meets at least 6 times per year to provide oversight, direction and governance to the management and operations of the Cluster.
Chairman
Ross Waring is a highly accomplished Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, and renewable energy sectors. Ross has developed a deep expertise in technology commercialisation, consistently transforming innovative concepts into industry-leading solutions whilst also building strategic relationships and foster collaboration across diverse industry sectors. As the Independent Chair of SICA, his strategic guidance has helped SICA strengthen collaboration between government, industry, and research institutions, with a particular focus on the emerging markets of Defence and Offshore Wind.
Board Member
Ruth is the Australian Offshore Wind Sub Market Lead with Kent and has worked as a structural engineer in the offshore wind and oil & gas industries for over twenty years. Working internationally throughout her career, Ruth has led various teams of structural engineers in supporting clients throughout the asset life cycle. Currently studying to complete her GAICD, Ruth has been a member of the SICA steering committee since 2019 and the board since 2022.

Nick is the Managing Director of Geo Oceans and has experience across marine survey and inspections, R&D, technology commercialisation, finance, corporate restructure, governance, project management, board and general management. Nick is a Chartered Accountant and has held several not-for profit and private company board appointments prior to joining SICA including Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chair roles.

From a background in geoscience, Shaun has broadened his deep technical and analytical skillbase into programme management, leadership and innovation roles for start-ups, mid-caps and global energy organisations. Adaptable, enthusiastic and driven, Shaun has recently been applying his leadership and experience to diverse challenges including emissions management strategy, technology commercialisation and industry sector growth. He is currently Head of Business Development at IKM Testing Australia.

Kelly is a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary with extensive expertise in financial reporting, governance, and compliance. She currently partners with senior executives and boards to provide strategic guidance on governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, funding strategies, and financial best practices.
Kelly’s experience includes senior advisory roles with several ASX-listed companies, as well as a background in audit and assurance at PricewaterhouseCoopers. This has given her a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for both listed and unlisted entities.
