Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia Limited has an elected Board of up to 7 Directors registered with the Australian Securities and Investment Comission (ASIC). The Board is responsible for overseeing the operations, legal, strategic, governance and financial matters of SICA.
The Board meets at least 6 times per year to provide oversight, direction and governance to the management and operations of the Cluster.
Chairperson
Mark Casey is a highly accredited Mechanical and Subsea Engineer with almost forty years’ experience in the offshore oil and gas industry across the North Sea and Asia Pacific. His expertise spans subsea feasibility, concept development, design, procurement, and commissioning of subsea production systems.
Alongside deep technical knowledge, Mark has demonstrated strong leadership in multi-stakeholder environments, with a clear understanding of Australian Energy Operators’ needs. As Independent Chair, he brings valuable strategic insight to SICA’s initiatives, ensuring the organisation remains relevant, forward-looking and aligned with both industry priorities and government policy.
Company Secretary & Non-Executive Director
Ruth is an accomplished offshore structural engineer with over 25 years of global experience across the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors. Throughout her career, she has worked with project developers, engineering firms, and consultancies, delivering technical solutions across the entire asset lifecycle.
Currently serving her second three-year term on the Board and recently appointed as Company Secretary, Ruth brings a wealth of diverse operational insights to SICA’s executive leadership. Her core strengths in corporate governance, strategic foresight, and driving change significantly enhance boardroom discussions, driving impactful governance and sustainable organisational growth.
Treasurer & Non-Executive Director
Kelly is a Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary with extensive expertise in financial reporting, governance, and compliance. She currently partners with senior executives and boards to provide strategic guidance on governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, funding strategies, and financial best practices.
Kelly’s experience includes senior advisory roles with several ASX-listed companies, as well as a background in audit and assurance at PricewaterhouseCoopers. This has given her a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for both listed and unlisted entities.
Non-Executive Director
From a background in geoscience, Shaun has broadened his deep technical and analytical skillbase into programme management, leadership and innovation roles for start-ups, mid-caps and global energy organisations. Adaptable, enthusiastic and driven, Shaun has recently been applying his leadership and experience to diverse challenges including emissions management strategy, technology commercialisation and industry sector growth. He is currently Head of Business Development at IKM Testing Australia.
Non-Executive Director
Nick is the General Manager of Blakemere Engineering, leading a team of engineers, technicians and consultants who provide bespoke, robust remote tooling solutions to subsea and adjacent sectors.
Nick is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with Engineers Australia and has over 20 years of experience working locally in Perth in subsea, oil and gas and mining equipment in technical engineering, project and business management roles.
Nick’s prior experience includes several years as Secretary of the SUT Perth Branch Committee, a member of SICA steering committee, and he is currently the Treasurer of the WA section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
