Subsea Innovation Cluster Australia’s Steering Committee is an elected body that represent the interests of all cluster members and is involved in supporting the operational and technical aspects of the cluster. The Steering Committee works closely with the Cluster Manager and under the guidance of the Board.
The Steering Committee consists of members from approximately nine member companies and will have a market-focused composition. As the cluster develops and meets challenges, change of committee composition may be advantageous. The Steering Committee are elected by the member organisations and hold, as a minimum, one meeting per quarter with a minimum quorum of 5 members.

Ross Waring is a highly accomplished Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in the power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, and renewable energy sectors. Ross has developed a deep expertise in technology commercialisation, consistently transforming innovative concepts into industry-leading solutions whilst also building strategic relationships and foster collaboration across diverse industry sectors. As the Independent Chair of SICA, his strategic guidance has helped SICA strengthen collaboration between government, industry, and research institutions, with a particular focus on the emerging markets of Defence and Offshore Wind.

Colin started his career as an aircraft fitter before going on to study engineering, gain a PhD and held a post doctoral post in Aeronautical Engineering at Sydney University. He has over 30 years’ experience with global consulting firms in engineering, resources and management consulting specialising in developing and implementing best in class knowledge and collaboration platforms and driving technology innovation.

As the Managing Director at Radiation Professionals he has created a company delivering the highest level of service to our clients while endeavouring to provide complete solutions to cover all aspects of radiation management. His roles include the development of the company overall (including building training programs, new equipment development), along with filling the role of Senior Consulting Radiation Specialist.

Gary is the Principal Subsea Engineer at Wood Group with over twenty five years of international subsea experience.

Associate Professor Iftekhar Ahmad for the School of Engineering at ECU. Iftekhar has been an active researcher and project supervisor in the fields of Green Communication Technologies, Underwater Communications, Integration of Renewable Energy in Communication Networks, Sensor Technologies for Condition Monitoring of Industrial Equipment, and Charging Strategies for Electric Vehicles (both light and heavy-duty EVs).

Josh is the CEO of Hyperion Systems, a Western Australia based organisation dedicated to transforming the manufacturing industry with innovative and sustainable technologies. Their focus is on automating production lines with 3D printing to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs. Josh is passionate about using hard innovation to solve global problems, and deeply committed to ocean health, marine conservation and advancing technologies like AI, machine learning and additive manufacturing.

Tom is a Commercial Development Partner within the Research Portfolio at the University of Western Australia. He began his career as an ICU nurse before completing a law degree and being admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2019. His diverse background informs a thoughtful and multidisciplinary approach to strategic industry engagement. Tom focuses on building meaningful collaborations between academia and industry, supporting innovation, knowledge exchange and long-term impact.

At Geo Oceans, he manages complex subsea IMR projects using advanced ROV and AUV technologies, driving innovation and operational excellence. Ben is recognised for his strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, and commitment to safety, governance, and sustainable growth. Passionate about advancing technology and inclusive leadership, he contributes to developing responsible, high-performance solutions within the marine and energy sectors.
