The Hyperbaric Deep Water Testing facility is a joint project between JTSI, SICA, Matrix and Baker Hughes for testing Subsea Control Modules (SCMs). Last year the first stage of the project was completed. This involved modifying the existing chamber to be able to carry complex testing on subsea equipment and commissioning the facility.
As the facility is already operational and established as a common use facility the cost and effort for additional capabilities will be incremental rather than substantial.
The overarching ambition is to establish this site as the Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence for subsea testing, leveraging the vast expertise and resources available locally including WA universities.
This project clearly demonstrates the importance of SICA as an independent third party being able facilitate these collaborative projects.
